Not every useful discovery is a catch
A voyage can bring back discoveries from the land as well as fish from the water. The official description singles out scrap metal and forgotten blueprints while encouraging exploration for rare and useful finds. This gives gathering its own place alongside fishing and trading.
Where exploration is described
Buildings, caves and shipwrecks are explicitly named as places to explore. Use the Submerged Land location logs to distinguish those environment types from verified named destinations. The description does not attach a particular blueprint, amount of scrap or guaranteed container to any of them.
| Record | What is supported | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Scrap metal | A valuable resource named by the developers. | Per-location quantities or a farming route. |
| Forgotten blueprints | A valuable kind of discovery. | A complete recipe-unlock list or guaranteed drop. |
| Buildings, caves and wrecks | Environments used to search for useful finds. | Universal coordinates, access conditions or respawn timers. |

How finds connect to making equipment
Gathered resources support bait, harpoons, medicine and survival tools. Survival gear organizes those uses without claiming every item requires scrap or a blueprint. Recipe discovery is announced, but the exact relation between each blueprint and an equipment upgrade must be verified individually.
Build a useful discovery record
No exact blueprint coordinates or guaranteed drops are established. For exploration settings, use locations; for the vessel that carries supplies home, use boat preparation.
Search both land and water
The demo announcement expands the scavenging picture to cabinets, crates, floating debris and abandoned containers. It also describes using the ship’s radio to uncover destinations, picking locked containers and solving puzzles. These activities explain why exploration belongs beside fishing, but do not identify a specific blueprint in a specific container. Link a future discovery to the actual place and build before treating it as a repeatable source.
Crafting and skill progression are different records
The July Demo announcement separates workbench crafts from Fishing and Ship Upgrade Skill Trees. The store also names forgotten blueprints as discoveries. None of these descriptions establishes that every skill or craft requires a found blueprint.
| System | Published examples | What remains unknown |
|---|---|---|
| Blueprint discovery | Forgotten blueprints found while exploring | Exact drops, coordinates and recipe mapping |
| Workbench crafting | Lures and tackle in the Demo feature plan | Ingredients, quantities and recipe prerequisites |
| Fishing Skill Tree | Fishing upgrades in the Demo feature plan | Full tree, costs and unlock order |
| Ship Upgrade Skill Tree | Hull Armour Mk I, engines, storage and lantern | Costs and links to found blueprints |
