A quiet trip can become a confrontation
The official description says danger can emerge unexpectedly during sea and land expeditions. This establishes the possibility of an encounter, not a spawn timer or route that guarantees safety. Read the location logs for the difference between environmental descriptions and confirmed destinations.
Do not infer a weakness from an equipment category
Harpoons, medicines and survival tools are announced equipment categories. Their presence does not establish creature weaknesses or damage values. Read survival gear for their stated roles.
When an observation can become a creature record
The four named fish have announcement records. They are not a complete enemy roster, and unnamed trailer silhouettes do not establish additional species or bosses.
Why danger is more than a combat encounter
The fifth diary describes fog, uncertain sounds, changing light and distance from safety as ways to build tension. Not every sound has an immediate answer, and a calm-looking place is not necessarily safe. The developers explicitly place combat within that atmosphere rather than describing a game made of constant attacks. Read the development report for the distinction.
Sea Blight and mutation
Sea Blight is a worldbuilding explanation for changes to organisms and places. The third diary describes mutation as part of the setting, but it does not give a complete enemy roster or a combat rule for every creature. Our Sea Blight guide keeps those story descriptions separate from mechanics that would require a playable build.
Frequently asked questions
Answers based on the official sources discussed in this guide.
Is there a verified bestiary or weakness chart?
The official descriptions establish threats on land and water, but this site has not verified a complete enemy roster, damage values or weaknesses.
Is every unsettling sound a combat warning?
The atmosphere diary describes tension even when nothing is attacking. It does not establish a one-to-one relationship between each sound and a creature. Read the atmosphere diary report.
